Lathwells Restaurant, Bideford

We are so excited here at Lathwells  -  and its all thanks to a couple who have set up a new business Torridge Oysters and Mussels.  And, yes, we have the mussels on our Additions menu this weekend.  The Oysters and Mussels are grown in the River Torridge and then hand-picked and transferred to UV treated water in Appledore where they can get properly clean.  They stay in the UV water for at least 5 days when they are then ready to come to Lathwells to be enjoyed.  Daryl Littlejohn of Torridge Environmental Health has endorsed this method as being the best way to treat river Mussels to ensure safe eating.  We have been amazed at the size of these creatures too - we just cant wait for you to come and try them.

We will only have them on the menu Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and they will obviously be subject to availability and we will not keep a huge stock of them to ensure their optimum freshness.

SEASONAL OPENING HOURS

We are delighted to tell you that we are now open 6 nights a week1  Mondays and Tuesdays we are open now with a slightly shorter menu with one or two new dishes and some firm favourites.  We are less formal and in fact if you just want to pop in for a drink you can, we have a liicence that allows that (table service though).  If you want you can come in an just have a starter, or a sharing plate or even just a pudding!  Open from 6.45pm we look forward to seeing you -   Bring your newspaper or ask for a pack of playing cards.

Drinks in Lathwells - did you know our house wine is only £4.50 for a 250ml (large) glass  -  and that our local real Ale is only £3.10 pint  -  and that our spirits with a mixer are only £3.20!  Its worth a drink after a long day in the office!

From Wednesday to Saturday inclusive we are back to our regular menu with the additions.
